Dr. Johnny Leung OD, Chief Optometrist
Born and raised in Rochester Hills, Dr. Leung received his Doctorate of Optometry from the Michigan College of Optometry, graduating at the top of his class and earning numerous awards including Optometry Student of the Year.
Prior to receiving his Doctorate, Dr. Leung earned his Bachelors of Science degree in Medical Technology at Michigan State University. He went on to serve an internship at the prestigious William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. There he received Medical Technologist Certification from the American Society of Clinical Pathologists. This provides him with an extensive background in systemic conditions and associated laboratory testing that adds an additional level of care for his patients. Since many heath conditions and medications can affect the eyes, Dr. Leung is able to work with his patients’ primary care doctors to help manage overall health more efficiently and effectively.
While proudly working in his hometown, Dr. Leung has also completed medical and vision missions to Dominica, Ecuador, and the Galapagos Islands. On his last mission to Dominica with VOSH (Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity), over 2000 eye examinations were performed and thousands of pairs of gently used eyeglasses were donated to those in need. Closer to home, Dr. Leung volunteers his services to children in need of eyecare at an annual event known as the Back to School Bonanza (KidzKare, Inc). In his free time, Dr. Leung enjoys spending time with his family, golfing and traveling.
Dr. Thomas Casey OD, Optometrist
Dr. Casey has been practicing optometry for over 25 years in the metro Detroit area. In addition to primary eye care and surgical co-managment, he specializes in Low Vision rehabilitation and geriatric eye care. Low vision examinations are for people who have suffered vision loss and cannot be correctable by conventional therapies. Dr. Casey has been able to help these people make the most of their remaining vision using magnifiers, telescopic eyewear, filters, and other low vision aids. Many local retinal specialists refer their patients to Dr. Casey for the low vision examinations. He is available for low vision examinations on thursday mornings.
Dr. Casey is available to provide care to patients in nursing and assisted living homes across the state. Dr. Reza Rahmani DO, Board Certified Laser Refractive Surgeon
Dr. Rahmani is a highly respected ophthalmologist who engenders great confidence and loyalty in his patients. Dr. Rahmani is also widely recognized among the professional medical community for his outstanding experience. He is presently performing more than 200 LASIK procedures per month. Dr. Rahmani received an award from Visx as recognition of being in the top 5% of LASIK surgeons in the nation. He is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist and an active member of the American Society Of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. Dr. Rahmani is a staff member of six hospitals in Michigan including the Detroit Medical Center, Henry Ford-Wyandotte Hospital, Oakwood Hospital-Seaway Center and Oakwood Heritage-Taylor Center.
Dr. Rahmani is himself a living testimonial to the marvels of LASIK surgery. His own vision was corrected from “counting fingers at four feet” to a remarkable 20/20 following the LASIK procedure. Dr. Rahmani is the founder of the Rahmani Eye Institute.
Dr. Leanna Pender OD, Optometrist
Dr. Leanna Pender is a Lapeer native, who graduated from Lapeer East High School in 2008. She obtained her Bachelor’s of Science in Biology at Saginaw Valley State University. In 2016, Dr. Pender graduated from the Michigan College of Optometry (MCO) at Ferris State University with distinction. During her optometric education, she completed her first internship at MCO with a focus on pediatric eye care and speciality contact lens fittings. Dr. Pender also rotated at the Veterans Affairs hospital in Detroit, Michigan with an emphasis on Ocular Disease. She completed a rotation at Balian Eye Center, a large private practice, in Rochester Hills, Michigan for comprehensive primary care and cataract surgery co-management. She also spent time training with Low Vision Specialist, Dr. Becker, for care and device training for patients of low vision. Dr. Pender is especially passionate about low vision and received a scholarship to pursue primary care low vision in practice in her final year of schooling. She is an active member of the Michigan Optometric Association and American Optometric Association. Dr. Pender married her high school sweetheart in 2013 and they had their first child, Anneliese, in 2015. They enjoy spending time with family and quality time at their home in North Branch playing with their black lab, Cooper.
Michelle Hertzfeld, Insurance Manager and Optician
Michelle was born and raised in Waterville, Ohio, a small town outside of Toledo. She began her optical career there in 2001 as an optician and ophthalmic technician. She graduated from Notre Dame Academy in 1999 and Stautzenberger College in 2007 . She entered the optical apprentice program and received her certification from the American Board of Opticianry in 2004. Michelle also received her Optician’s license from the State of Ohio in 2004. In addition to eyewear selection and adjustments, Michelle is also proficient with optical procedures like refraction and contact lens dispensing. She is also proficient in ophthalmologic pre-testing such as: digital retinal imaging, OCT, visual field testing, intra-ocular pressure, etc.. Navigating through the complexities of insurance is one of Michelles specialties, so she welcomes to opportunity to help people through this complex maze.
Michelle moved to the Rochester area in 2012 when her fiance’ Ross accepted a job at Chrysler. She accepted a job with Accent Eyecare upon moving here, and had a beautiful wedding in December of 2013 in Rochester. In her free time, Michelle loves to spend time with her husband and rescue dog, George, a french bulldog/pug mix; a Frug! Michelle also loves to travel, watch football and spend time outdoors.
Kristi Johnson, Optical Manager and Optician
Kristi is a Grand Haven native who began working in the eye care field in 2004. She started as an optician in Grand Rapids and moved to Lake Orion in 2006. She joined the Accent Eyecare team in 2010. Kristi is involved in eyewear selection and adjustments. She is also proficient in ophthalmologic pre-testing such as digital retinal photography, auto-refraction, keratometry, visual field testing, etc.. Having worked in numerous corporate optometry settings, Kristi has realized that working in private practice has afforded her the freedom to provide the best personalized care and optical solutions to her patients.
In her free time, Kristi loves to spend time with her husband, Bryan, and son, Keagen, and their two dogs, Cooper and Sammy. She loves photography, and is available for hire. Her impressive photographic resume ranges from full weddings to casual cherishable moments. Kristi also loves speed skating, traveling and the Detroit tigers.
Danielle, Optical Manager and Optician
Danielle began working in the eye care field in 1992 as an optician. From there she was promoted to office manager and eventually obtained the position of Market Team Lead overseeing multiple locations for a large commercial optical chain. Danielle is proficient in all exam pre-testing procedures including visual fields and digital retinal imaging. She truly enjoys being able to provide the highest quality service and products to every patient. Danielle loves helping people find the perfect eyeglass frame, teaching children how to use contact lenses, and providing the best experience possible!
Danielle enjoys time with her 2 children and watching her favorite television shows, especially the Walking Dead.
